Terms of Service

By using RainOrRinse (the "Service"), you agree to these terms.

1. What the Service is

RainOrRinse is a free informational tool that suggests when to wash your car based on the local weather forecast and conditions you tell us about your vehicle. It is a suggestion, not a guarantee. Forecasts can be wrong. Always check the sky before you decide.

2. Eligibility

You must be a licensed driver in your jurisdiction. The Service is built for adults. Children should not use the Service without parental supervision.

3. Your data

See the Privacy Policy for full detail. Summary: your car profile and wash log are stored only on your device. We use your GPS location only when you grant permission, only at the moment of request. We do not sell or share your data for advertising. You can delete everything in Settings → Reset all data.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to break or reverse-engineer the Service
Scrape, crawl, or otherwise extract data from our backend
Misuse the partner/ad management features (if you operate the backend)

5. Forecasting and decision-making

The wash recommendation is a heuristic informed by public weather data (Open-Meteo). It is not suitable for insurance decisions, safety-critical decisions, or resale/commercial liability decisions. If the app says "wash now" and a freak storm appears in 20 minutes, that's the nature of weather. We accept no liability for wasted wash effort, water spots, or related damage.

6. Service availability

We do our best to keep the Service running, but we offer no uptime guarantee. The app is designed to work offline once installed as a PWA, so brief outages should not interrupt typical use.

7. Modifications

We may modify the Service or these Terms at any time. Material changes will be posted in-app with a notice and a "Last updated" date.

8. Third-party services

The Service relies on Open-Meteo for weather data. Their terms apply to that data. We are not responsible for downtime, inaccuracy, or changes in Open-Meteo's terms.

9. Intellectual property

RainOrRinse, the name, the logo, and the application code are © RainOrRinse and its contributors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RAINORRINSE AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

This does not exclude liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (e.g., for fraud, gross negligence, or rights that cannot be waived under EU consumer protection law).

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. For EU users, your statutory consumer rights are not affected. For California users, your CCPA rights are not affected.
